In low elo it doesn’t matter as much so you can get away with it but once you get into higher elos you might be limited. TLDR: Vipers good but isn’t optimal on most of the maps as solo smokes. I switched to Astra at that point and easily got to immortal once I grinded out some practice games in unrated to adjust. I got all the way to mid-high diamond playing pretty much only Viper and that’s where I started to feel like I was losing games because I picked her on Haven. I feel she really struggles on attack on most maps but defense is fine because even on maps she’s bad at you can just save your wall or orb for retake.Įven on maps she’s OK on like split, bind and fracture - she just doesn’t have the flexibility other agents do. If you place your wall and throw your orb but then have to rotate your team is basically running a smokeless comp and it’s a lot harder to take and hold site. She doesn’t have the flexibility the other controllers do. She’s basically a must pick on breeze and fracture but especially post nerf she really struggles as solo controller on the other maps - but she’s perfectly viable as secondary smokes on every map. ![]() I feel like defence is pretty self explanatory for why she’s so strong, but if you want that explaining then I will do so in another reply.Īpologies for the messy writing, replying to this whilst at work :) The molly stops people running straight through her smokes, or for clearing unchecked angles once her smokes are up. Her orb is used to close off that remaining angle that the wall doesn’t align with, so if you’re walking across ramp and Heaven on Split A from sewer, you would then use the orb on screen and you can fight the site player(s). ![]() Her wall is one of the best abilities in the game, whilst being linear it out ranks any other ‘smoke’ in the game when it comes to a site hit on these maps (for example Split B, send it across the site halfway through the pillar and you’ve got that whole area to work with without worrying about heaven, hell, back pillar or CT). I was planning to make a post on the weekend kinda giving some really basic tips to low elo players (Like myself) who want to play Controller and they struggle with smokes, so if you have a tip that you could give a low elo player, let me know and I'll include it with your usernameĪssuming you’re playing her as the solo controller, then she’s viable on 4 maps (subjective, but I’m an immo3 viper main): Breeze, Fracture, Icebox and Split - you could argue for bind as well but I tend to play Brim instead. Her Snake Bites are meant to be comboed with her Orb, but I have some lineups depending on the map where I won't be able to retrive the smoke easily so I can't combo all the time. Is she really worth it outside of High elo and Proplay? She's very good but a lot of the times I just feel like she's more situational than I'd like her to be, which kinda annoys me.
